Saving a High Tech Startup

The client is a startup wanting to make it big with a document sharing portal. The team had burnt 16 person-months of development effort without creating much value. Incorrect code constructs caused problems waiting to happen, which we identified as "minefields". We quickly analyzed the situation and identified that there was an opportunity to re-start on the right foot, still reusing some of the previous work. We proposed to use a Java J2EE/ EJB3 stack as it fitted the requirements very well. A joint team is presently developing the portal, with Acism team helping in mentoring, prototyping, design, development and testing.

Inexpensive Solution for Cash-strapped Startup

The client is a startup which is planning to do a good work in the education domain. Part of their strategy is e-learning. Originally they were going for a static website. Acism recommended to them that a CMS fired website would be easier to maintain in the future. Acism also suggested that it might help to evaluate moodle as a free software alternative before going for more expensive custom software, and presented them the pros and cons of both approaches. Acism is truly acting as the technology partner of the client, giving them the right advice and saving money for them.

Working with a Bigger Fish

This story is of a well-established software house which provides software development services primarily to US based startups. We have been doing contracting for them on a variety of their projects. Our role involved help in varied aspects of the projects --client coordination, team leadership, design, development, testing and documentation. The technical work that we do for this client is primarily in the Java space. We have also worked on creating elearning capsules to boost technology learning.

Intranet for Better Communication and Lowering Operating Costs

The client is a reputed ad agency which is involved in branding and marketing of big brands. They had the need of an intranet application to be developed for use by them (and even their customers). Since this application would evolve over a period of time, long life of the code and easy enhanceability were important. We proposed a Java web solution using an MVC approach, along with JPA for the data interfacing. The project was awarded to us and was completed with full client satisfaction. We are now working on leg 2. We also help them with some of their work involving web development.
